Thanos Karapoulios was born in Larissa, in August 1979.
He studied Advertising and Marketing in Thessaloniki.
Although he is taking his first steps in Photography, Art has been a loyal companion since
his childhood.
As a child of the conservatory since the age of 8, he studied classical guitar and music theory
and later on the history of music and art in general.
Photography emerged as a hobby during the pandemic years, which soon turned into an obsession.
He is a lover of black and white (bnw) with his favorite subjects being landscape photography
and street – urban photography.
A great influence on his photography were two legends, each one in his own field,
the photographer ANSEL ADAMS and the director ANDREI TARKOVSKI.
He already has 4 participations in group exhibitions so far in his first steps in photography.
-The exhibition 'Transitional landscapes - Vague terrain', Luminous Eye gallery, Athens,
Greece, March 17-26, curated by mr Paris Kapralos.
- The exhibition 'BAZZART SKG’, MYRO gallery, Thessaloniki, Greece, April 11-22,

His first big goal is to achieve a solo exhibition, with his first complete project bnw,

Artistic Statement
Having a constant engagement and friction with art throughout my life and especially with music,
I try to give in my subjects a strong poetic, lyrical and dramatic mood.
In my photographs I present simple everyday moments and ordinary landscapes through
my own subjective personal look, strongly influenced by the photography of ANSEL ADAMS
and the cinematography of ANDREI TARKOVSKY.
Essentially, my photography is a mix, coming from 3 different arts,
from classical romanticism in music, CHOPIN, LISZT and the dynamic mood of rock
and metal music, from the bnw photography of the legend ANSEL ADAMS and
from the unique melancholic cinematographic landscapes of the unsurpassed ANDREI TARKOVSKY.
All these images and music are filtered by my own photographic eye and create
my personal visual world.
Especially in landscape photography, in my first complete photographic project,
internal landscapes – beyond light I combine and identify beautiful and melancholic
landscapes with deep inner feelings, such as sadness, isolation, despair, loneliness
creating a highly dramatic and emotional interaction.
The photographic lens is for me a small window into my mind and soul, through which
I capture the way I perceive the external stimuli around me, creating a dramatic
and special visual world.
