biography
Petia Rousseva was born in 1977 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
At the age of seven, she began violin lessons with her father, Kostadin Roussev – a violinist and violist – who recognized her ability.
At thirteen, she started playing the viola, with which instrument she was accepted at the “Lyubomir Pipkov” music high school in Sofia.
She graduated with honours in 1996.
She continued her studies at the The National Academy of Music “Prof. Pantcho Vladigerov” in Sofia, with Professor Stefan Zhilkov, finishing in 2002 with a masters.
She continued studying at the Hochschule für Musik in Würzburg, and finished her soloist exams in 2007.
Petia Rousseva has a wide range of experience as an orchestral and chamber musician, and as a soloist. From 2000-2002 she was a member of the Sofioter Philharmonie. In 2003 and 2004 she played with the Kammerphilharmonie Amade and in the orchestra of the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg. She has been a permanent member of the Oldenburgisches Staatsorchester since 2004.
Since then, she has been giving concerts in ensembles and as a soloist. She performs works by various composers, especially contemporary works by Bulgarian, Latin American and German composers. She also gives baroque concerts.
