biography

Born and raised in Uruguay by parents with music origins from Morocco, France, Germany and Asia Minor.
She started her professional career at the age of 8 and was trained for live presentation, dancing, acting and singing and  received exceptional reviews for her hearty spontaneity and sense of responsibility in front of the lens.
For five years she worked on television and at the age of 13 she and  her family moved to Buenos Aires to continue her studies in drama school, vocational placement, interpreting for live performances (puesta en escena), guitar, dancing,kinesiology and costume design.
She also studied art history and visual arts in Argentina and specialized in creating sculptures and jewelery from various materials.
In her teens,Janet Kapuya engaged herself to the  repertoire of Tango,singing professionally in the theaters and tango houses of Buenos Aires,while doing gigs and concerts  with her guitar in ethnic nights with traditional music of the Andes and of South America.
She took part in the festival of Vina Del mar,in Chile,as a lyricist and composer with the song “Paredes” (The walls), representing her homeland Uruguay and received once more amazing critic.
There she received a proposal from a group of Greek musicians for a series of concerts  that lasted 4 years in America, Los Angeles, performing songs of the great composer Mikis Theodorakis thus collaborated with the record company CBS.
That was the opportunity for her to visit Greece and become known  as one of the most remarkable and important voices who through warm presence, inexhaustible talent and temperament  keep the audience enchanted.
In 2009, she was proclaimed UNESCO's ambassador of Tango and participated in the Tango Gala 2009, held in Paris, and the World Music Festival  2011, which was held in Dubai.
